I must admit I'm being kind by giving this 2 stars. This was an absolute disappointment after being completely enchanted by The Art of Racing in the Rain. The main character was so self absorbed, unlikable, disgustingly selfish and made it very difficult to finish this book. I had no investment with any of the characters whatsoever, save the dog, Oscar but he was a very minor character. I have to wonder if Garth Stein did write this book or perhaps Racing was a fluke? I didn't mind the author delving into American Indian mythology but the plot overall was very weak. I can't possibly recommend this book to anyone I like.
