I loved this book. I actually read an ARC that I've had sitting around for maybe...2 years? Close to it! Every time I thin out my ARCs (because my sales rep gives me lots), I get rid of ones I haven't had time to read, but for some reason, I held on to this one. I remember picking it up once, but never starting it too. Finally, I just dove in and I love, love, love this book.
As a writer, it's the kind of book I could never write myself (I don't have the vocabulary, for one thing!), but I wish I could. This had so many great qualities. If you love words, the author makes great use of them (and thank God, they are not because the MC is studying for the SAT, thank you!). Also, the characters are well-drawn, dimensional, and most importantly, unapologetic for who they are. That was quite refreshing.
Anyway, I won't tell you any of the plot, but the book is funny, real, and for me, a lightning-quick read. Also, it's probably banned in Kansas (a joke you'll get once you read it).
