I usually enjoy books about young people learning new skills, but Revenge of the Witch was not entertaining to me. I feel that some events were explained in too much detail, like traveling, running from the witch family, and trying to get out of the pit. While other details, details that I cared about, were cut short. I wanted more learning about the different types of baddies with a bit of hands on experience. Explaining that a boggart cleaned the house and made food would have been so much easier than telling the main character not to go downstairs. I would have liked more information on the origin of the bad creatures as well. Are all witches evil, are they only women, what exactly is a boggart, how is one created? This book felt more like a summary than a heartfelt story, and I didn't feel a connection with any of the characters. If the material was presented in a different way, I think there would have been enough here for a good story. Unfortunately, I didn't really enjoy Revenge of the Witch enough to continue reading the series.
