it was amazing
bookshelves: ya, classics

Have to give it high marks because when I was in my tween years I devoured every one of these books. The first one was always the best, though. A young, precocious orphan is taken in by a farmer and his sister. She finds friends and enemies and screws up a lot, but there is also so much growth from her experiences. It's been years since I read this one, but I still remember it.
