before i write anything else, i should mention that my 7 yo daughter loved this book and read it within a day or two... so, i thought i should pick it up and see what all the excitement was about....

now, having finished it, i wonder if maybe i'm just "too old" to enjoy this book.... :) it took me a while to finish this book. i wasn't motivated by it at all...

the characters, the imaginative plot and it's accompanying twists are enjoyable enough... but i just didn't feel anything towards the characters... i mean, their stories are tragic enough and warrant sympathy, but i just wasn't feeling it... :(

i'm just glad my daughter enjoyed it since i picked it out at the library because of the quirky illustrations and the book jacket/first pages were appealing... :0
