Haven't read a book so engaging and yet this fragmented. The writers didn't coordinate before writing. Their only instruction was -- "make somebody up!" This "somebody" could be a person, an animal, or a probably non-existent monster!
Some of the stories manage to create a climax and unexpected twist on its second page. Some manage to purposefully hide the identity of the "somebody" until the very end. Some make you shed a few tears from the tenth paragraph.
Can't really condense the book in a few paragraphs here. You have to experience it yourself. This book really is a journey - not the kind of old-fashioned, cheezy and meaningless journey many commercials (or Woody Allen!!!!) would have said.
My personal favorites are -- Nigora by Adam Thirlwell, Roy Spivey by Miranda July and Donal Webster by Colm Toibin.
