I have mixed feelings about this book. I liked the beginning, but I probably would have been just fine if I had never finished the book. There was a period in the middle where the book lost my interest completely. It was actually only a span of a few pages, but it took me forever to get through them. I think the reason was that things were really looking down, and it wasn't enjoyable to read about the characters always doing the wrong thing when the reader is screaming at them to do something else. After that, though, I got right back into the story and pretty much read straight through to the end.

Speaking of which, the ending was a bit too surreal for me. It was just a completely different feel from the rest of the story. I feel like it didn't really fit. But then, I don't know how else this story could have ended, so I guess deference to the author is best. Quite a journey, though.
