Maximum Ride is an adrenaline pumping, shocking and even tear jerking thrill ride. The book is based on a conflict between a group of kids that are human avian hybrids and “the school” that chases them throughout the book.
The book goes through a variety of settings ranging from cool sky air that is described in the book as cold wet clouds rushing on you as time flies by to houses on land. Maximum ride is a girl’s name and she is the leader of “the flock”, the name of the human avian hybrids. In her flock, there are six in total that wander the earth’s skies trying to escape from those trying to convince Max that her destiny is to save the world. Jeb, who is the main character on the other side, is evil even though he is really fond of Max. He likes Max more than his own son, Ari. This is important to the plot and makes it more twisted.
Iggy and Gazzy are part of the flock. Iggy is blind but that doesn’t stop him from having fun exploding things with his partner in crime, Gazzy. They were at Itex trying to get away from Jeb and Ari and then within one millisecond after Gazzy saying “duck” the place was in calamity. Gazzy took something like a pen and a lighter and like magic…boom! After a few seconds, the sirens go off and the flock gets up and flies off.
The book ends with the flock escaping into a safe place. I can’t tell you if Max saved the world but I can say there are more books to be read. Thank you for checking out my review.
