really liked it

A thoroughly riveting read - with a great introduction and thoughts (that were legititimate) concerning Xenophon promotoing himself through this book as the catalyst for saving, and being the saviour of, so many lives (and probably other people should take more credit). However, it does give great insights into the hardships the Greeks endured in retreating from Persia, the amount of backstabbing and betrayals that went on, not to mention the terrain and hounding from the Persians. While you need to take Xenophon's sweeping statements with a pinch of salt, this book was used by Alexander the Great for his Persian expedition, as he wanted to succeed where they failed, and used the book to learn about the Persians.
As an avid raeder of hostory, I did enjoy this book very much.
