I have a personal fascination with how authors portray or imagine the future of the human race. The bizarre thing about this book is that it gets all upset about some things (racism, mind control) but seems to condone other things (taking over another planet just because humans feel like it, destroying the native life because it's not earthy enough).
I was pulled into the story by the details about the situation and place, but the characters made me quite happy to finally finish the book. The female protagonist just seemed to whine and blink a lot. The male protagonist was only a little more complicated in that he was both very selfish and very gullible.
