really liked it
bookshelves: young-adult
Read in January, 2011

A mesmerizing page-turner that pairs great writing with a well-researched account of the world of anorexia nervosa.

One small issue that drove me nearly bonkers was the protagonist's use of the word "me" as a subject ("Cassie and me had taken a sacred oath…" or "Mom and me can't talk without screaming.") It didn't seem at all believable for this super-intelligent, well-read 18-year-old, nor can I believe that her parents wouldn't have corrected her. It almost ruined the book for me since I cringed every time I read one of these sentences.

Lisa Vegan Ginny, I loved this book. Not flawless, but excellent, and powerful.
