An incredible book. The story starts when Jack turns 5, and we discover that he's never known anything except the 11x11 area he thinks of as Room. He goes to sleep at night in Wardrobe, while Ma waits for the man to come to her. Then the man leaves, Jack is allowed out of WArdrobe to join her in Bed.

Halfway through the book Jack and his mother escape from Room, and then you see the world through this child's eyes. Incredibly intriguing story, and the writing is vivid and strong. A great, but somewhat disturbing, story. Not at all graphic, but disturbing in a subtle way because we can imagine what this child has been through, and the confusion he feels when he is exposed to the outside world, that he has never known in his entire existence.
