I enjoyed reading this, though it did feel a bit long at times. Not knowing as much about English history, it actually gave me a lot of insight into the political, religious and cultural turmoil during Henry VIII's reign and has made me curious to find out more about the rest of his wives, the way the events and social upheavel during the 1500's led to the Civil War and other royal problems in successive generations. And I think that's exactly what historical fiction should do - set a human picture of the times of the distant past and make us want to learn more.
