The Paris Vendetta (Cotton Malone, #5)

This book was a struggle for me, I own all of Steve Berry's novels and always look forward to reading them but this one I kept putting down and going back to.
As with the last several of his books this one follows Cotton Malone on one of his adventures and pretty much all the characters in the book will be familiar from previous works. I like Cotton, I find the character interesting and enjoyable as are the others in the book. We learn more about Cotton's friend 'the Dane' Henrik and his development is completely believable.
For me I think the problem is that this novel is about Napoleon and the search for his treasure, which only sort of managed to grab my attention. The biggest issue I had was that everytime someone found a clue in the novel Berry would repeat all the knowledge that had been previously found about Napoleon. So by the middle of the book I felt like I was stuck in a lecture that was on repeat. The repetition did nothing for the plot or the characters, it just made the book long, boring in parts and greatly affected the pacing of the novel.
