have a box of tissues handy. As usual, Evans depicts a very serious and sad subject behind innocence and youth. He seems to really be able to get inside the mind of young people, making us all recall what it was like to be either on the brink of adulthood, or just barely into it, when we are beginning to see the world as it really is and understand that life is not always fair or how we pictured it. I enjoyed this book especially as it portrayed such a tragic topic, with such compassion and clarity that it was so believable.
I guess I am trying to say it was a phenomenal book that made me glad that my upbringing was so boring and opened my eyes to a sad yet possible situation that many young kids have to deal with. Grace ran away from her home with no hope or chance for a normal future. Yet through Eric's kind and generous nature, not only found a new home yet found the love she did not even know that she was looking for. Be ready though, since this is a serious novel despite being written from the perspective of a young 14 yr old boy, it is still a tear jerker and throws you for some unexpected loops.
