Mornings on Horseback
by David McCullough
by David McCullough
McCulough's early days to manhood (mid twenties) biography of Theodore Roosevelt. The first third of the books focuses on His parents and early childhood. I learned much about his father and his philosophies, but this section could have been edited a bit more. Was fascinated with the thought of spending 10 months with the entire family touring Europe. Or months on the Nile. The Next section focused on Teddy as a young man off to Harvard. Lastly his early political years, marriage and finally as a cattle rancher in the Dakotas. Learned many things that helped me appreciate the man that he came to be and the president he would become. Also a fascinating history of the wealth and big city living in NYC in the golden age.
