Since this is labelled as an erotic romance, I actually found this book very disturbing. It was way, way too harsh for me. In my opinion there was no romance between the characters. Only a blind, raging lust on the hero's part, and the heroine's willingness to do anything to satisfy him. Just to fulfil him so he'll keep her in his life.

The hero (Micah) and heroine (Angelina) both crave pain during sex--in a big way--but it was never explained why, or at least not in a satisfactory way that made me understand it. If it had been, maybe that could have made a difference for me. But I couldn't stand Micah. He was flat out mean and selfish with Angelina, both emotionally and sexually, pretty much right until the end of the book. Most of the menage scenes made me cringe so badly (because I was sure Angelina had to be in absolute agony) that I had to skim over them just to get through it. I found the men's actions cruel and sadistic to the point that I couldn't forgive Micah for allowing it to continue. Actually, I thought the brief scenes between her and Cole were much more romantic and tender than anything that happened between her and Micah. Not exactly what I had hoped for when I bought the book.

This is the first Maya Banks book I've ever read, so it's possible this one was just happened to be particularly hard core and I might like some of her others better. But I'm not sure I want to find out.
