Harry Mulisch's recent death made the news; I'd previously been unaware of his biography and oeuvre. This was worth reading for the topic. The denouement is outstanding though I'd have to say I was uncomfortable with the protagonist's detachment in life. Perhaps that's part of what we're given to understand.
