This has been one of the best books I've read in a really long time. It is a novel about the life of a "little person" in a small German town pre WWII through the end of the war. Story is about her life from birth to middle age. It was fascinating to see how Nazi Germany unfolded in the lives of common people. this book is not a pick up when you want to - it takes effort to absorb the details, but well worth it. I cried in several spots as well as cheered in others. Really liked it.
