A challenging book that equates trust to a combination of faith and hope and calls Christians to be ruthless in their trust in the goodness and the eternal love of God. And to be ruthless means to eliminate self-pity. Author Brennan Manning mixes personal experience with historical examples and scholarly references to advance his premise in an entirely readable format. One wants to hurry through to glean the nuggets of wisdom and then return to the book for more thorough study. It is the kind of writing that inspires both responses. One senses that the author has done more than study the ideas he presents, he has actually lived them, and wants to see his readers join him in that in our daily walk.
