Maximum Ride: School’s Out - Forever

Maximum Ride is a series by the bestselling author, James Patterson. This is the award winning first book of the exciting series, and one of my favorite books ever

Maximum Ride part II is written by James Patterson as a follow up and second establishment in the Maximum Ride series. It is a captivating and fast-paced story that picks up where the last book left off. A brief recap: Maximum Ride follows the lives of six kids that were science experiments escaped from a lab and now have avian DNA, complete with wings. They have to evade their captors and fight to survive.

In the last book, after the youngest one, Angel, was kidnapped and brought back to the lab, they managed to rescue her and escape into New York City. Unfortunately they haven’t been able to evade the public eye. In part II: School’s Out - Forever, Max and her friends are offered service by a secret government organization. They provide them shelter and a home and allow them to go to high school and pretend to be normal teenagers to blend in with the other children.

One of the major themes I find relevant in this series establishment is the theme of not fitting it with everyone else and the kids not feeling that they have a place in this world. Max and her friends have to try to fit in with the rest of the kids. As said by Max, “Blending in doesn’t come that easy for us.”
They stand out from the crowd, because they’ve lived being chased and rejected their whole life and they got put in with regular children.

In short Maximum Ride, book 2, is a great book I would recommend to anyone who likes to read, but you have to be patient because the book is relatively long. Maximum Ride is a strong series, albeit with a few minor plotholes, and book two is a strong continuation. 5/5
