** spoiler alert **
I love Meg Cabot, so I was really hyped for this book, but once I got my copy, and made it past the eight chapters posted on her website as teasers, it went downhill, and I was left pretty disappointed by the whole thing.
There wasn't a whole lot of character growth and the relationship between Meena and Lucien was all over the place, ranging from romantic to bizarre, and the fact that they didn't end up together in the end, basically because of her idiotic prejudices, really pissed me off.
My biggest problem with this book though, and the character I actually hated was Meena's brother Jon. The scene where they first meet Alaric, turned me off Jon completely as well as Alaric (although I will admit to already being biased against Alaric, as personally, I hate werewolves). I mean, what kind of brother would stand around doing nothing, while a stranger, after breaking into their home, verbally and physically assaults his sister??
Nuh-uh, that whole part was just so unbelievable and rage-inducing - there's always weapons at the ready in your own home; from a kitchen knife to a lamp.
Despite this, I will be getting the sequel to find out what happens with Meena and Lucien, as I will honestly scream if she ends up and/or stays with Alaric.
Overall, this is probably a 3/5, based mainly on the beginning romance between Lucien and Meena, particularly the scene where Meena tells Lucien: "You are what you eat"
