It's charming to read Jane Austen's first novel after reading her more famous works. A sweet story, with gothic elements, focusing on an impressionable girl who gets overly involved in her books. My kind of heroine!

Update after re-read: I just finished the audiobook, and found it completely charming. Narrator Juliet Stevenson is great at bringing each of Austen's characters to life, and using her voice to highlight the social manipulations and deceptions in the simplest of lines. I'm really glad I gave this one another go -- it had been a few years since I last read it, and it was nice to be reminded of Catherine's silly flights of fancy.
