I found this book to be uncomfortable, start to finish, which I believe was the intention of the author.

The book opens with a daughter smothering her mother, whose health is failing and continues to tell the tale of why she does it, and how she reacts to having done it.

Nearly every moment of this book left me feeling mildly nauseous and I eventually despised the main character for her lack of awareness of her own mental state and her alarming passivity and opportunism.
