Autism's False Prophets by Paul A. Offit

Offit did a wonderful job of packaging a lot of heavy controversy and science into an easy-to-read and enjoyable book. I flew right through this, could hardly put it down. I have close family ties to the autism controversy, and it was really a joy to see someone handle the issues clearly and pointedly, without overgeneralizing scientific findings, or making believers in the woo-woo look stupid. He puts the blame where the blame is due - on shoddy science, people unwilling to accept reality, and on people looking to make a quick buck off of parents' fears.
