Beverly Jenkins manages to make America's history from a African American's point of view romantic at all times. She should be commended for that alone! lol! Howevr I've learned so much about history while being thoroughly beguiled and entertained by the characters. I found this after I had read many of the others. I was surprised to find it had more of a YA flavor. Not only were the hero and heroine much younger than her usual, but there was no sex. Still I loved the characters and was caught up in their story.
