The Hunter's Moon is a wonderfully written book about modern fairies living in a fantasy place called Faerie. The world they live in, called The Summer Land, is practically heaven, but every dream comes with a sacrifice as Gwen and her cousin Findabhair find out. They were backpacking through Ireland searching for the "hidden door" that will lead to Faerie but go too far when they sleep inside a Faerie mound. Gwen's cousin is taken away and now Gwen has to travel over all of Ireland in search of her, while battling all the obstacles that her enemies put up. But she is about to find out something terrible hidden in the bright outside Faerie, and how much she and her cousin are linked in the survival of Faerie. And the possible destruction.
I though that this was a good book and that O. R. Melling was a great writer who really captures the feelings in the story. In the beginning I thought that it was not going to be good since it was about fairies, but it turned out to be fabulous and the fairies were devilish tricksters who were nothing like the small and sweet little garden fairies in old stories. -JAL
