This was my first Harlan Coban book and may or may not be my last. It's OK, no great shakes but not awful either. There were some mistakes in it, though, that drove me crazy. One of the characters is described as having deep brown eyes on one page, and indigo eyes a few pagaes later. Um, no. Indigo is a shade of blue and it's a shade that eyes don't come in, as far as I know. On the other hand, maybe she was wearing contact lenses that change eye color.

That lack of attenion to detail bothers me immensely. Editors should catch those kind of mistakes, although with that one, I would say it shouldn't have been made in the first place.

On the other hand, the book is laugh out loud funny at some points and the characters are complex and interesting.

I don't expect much from mystery books. Keep me entertained for the three hours or so it will take me to read them and I'm basically happy. So I may pick up another Harlan Coban book in the future, because Back Spin certainly filled my admittedly low expectations.

Since I've only read one Coban book, I'm puzzled as to how a sports agent is also a mystery solver, but I'll suspend disbelief long ehough to let that one go.

Elizabeth Jenks don't let this be your only Coben book! read one of his other novels outside the Bolitar series then see what you think!
