This 1983 novel is about a Jewish boy growing up in New York during the 40s. His father owns a book store in Times Square called Bookland. His mother dies and his father remarries a woman who he doesn't get along with. He's pretty middle-class, with middle-class problems, but not as whiny as Holden Caulfield. A little saccharine in parts. I enjoyed it.
