it was amazing
bookshelves: books-i-love-more-than-people, re-tellings
Read in December, 2006

I read this right after reading Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, by Gregory Maguire. I was intereseted in reading another account of a well known story. This one is of Dinah, from Genesis. A co-worker recommended this to me after I read Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit, by Jeanette Winterson. I was in a phase where I was totally in love with biblical influences in literature (I even took a course on it), and she recommended this. I'm glad I finally picked it up. I took it on vacation with me to Mexico, and sometimes I couldn't wait to get back inside so I could curl up with my book. The person I was travelling with started reading it over my shoulder on the plane ride home, and she couldn't wait to get her hands on it when we got home!

I would recommend this book to anyone, male or female, Old Testament fans or detractors. It's an amazing story. I've never met anyone who has read this who didn't absolutely love it.
