The Last Town on Earth: A Novel
by Thomas Mullen
Did you read this after you saw it on my list? I'm just curious because I was going to recommend it to you, and if you came across it on your own then I feel it's added proof that we're the same person! :)
Actually, I charged Dan with picking me up a book when he stopped by the library one day. Normally he finds my vague instructions a little overwhelming ("oh, just any fiction book, darling, you know what I like"). But because he knows that you and I are the same person, he looked to your list for inspiration. Success for all!

The books I tend to pick up are focused on smartly written, fully developed characters. Maybe because it stays centered on the town of Commonwealth, with other bits of the story radiating out but ultimately returning to the novel's center.
No one is going to claim this is a phenomenal book, but it certainly gets you thinking about how you might respond to protect yourself (y...more
