In both Arkansas and Citrus County, I find myself deeply enjoying the worlds John Brandon creates. They're dark and truthful and painted in shades so gray that right and wrong fade away until all that's left is the story being told.

The plot of Citrus County left me wanting a little more -- more of what I'm not exactly sure, but in the end I was not 100% satisfied. Regardless, Brandon's prose is this delicious lovechild of McCarthy and McSweeney's that I can't help but adore.

Citrus County is a wonderfully written read that fills your bookshelf's quota for dark and twisted (since we all have one). If you haven't read his other title, Arkansas, I'd highly recommend it as well.
