I thought this was quite good. Not having kept track of emerging writers, I had only just heard of the author at the time I found this on sale; I was drawn by the theme of an unconventional, dark look at the world of a psychic tormented by the trivial and evil spirits who follow her. Both of the main characters (Alison and Colette) were interestingly portrayed, although I wondered how Alison had turned out as kind a person as she had given her horrific childhood. Colette came across as a fairly intelligent, highly competent person who so lacks empathy or even an interior life of her own that it was surprising she didn't kill anyone in the course of the book.
