Duel in the Sun (Harlequin Presents, #1764)
by Sally Wentworth
by Sally Wentworth
Young wannabe antique textile expert goes to Egypt and finds herself caught between a wealthy Egyptian and the head of her archaeological team.
I liked this - as I do most of Wentworth's books - but it didn't exactly make me sigh or swoon. It's a mostly straightforward Girl Meets Boy story set against an Egyptology background. I wanted to be an archaeologist growing up so I enjoyed the atmosphere very much. That and the banter between the H/h were the best parts of the book.
I sorta loved/hated the heroine. I loved that she was smart and self-aware (perhaps too unrealistically self-aware for her age). Then she started leading the wealthy Egyptian (whom she personally found repulsive) on to make the hero jealous which negated some of her likability for me.
Sensuality: kisses only
Grade: B

Hey, I wanted to be an Egyptologist when I was a kid, too!

Thanks, Scully and Mel!
Drove 6 hours to see the King Tut exhibit when it was New Orleans years ago. Always like books with this topic.
Being an Egyptologist seems to be a common dream... I would have liked it, too. I had a trip in Egypt some years ago and I was amazed. It's incredible being there and think that those buildings have been around for over 4000 years and I was walking on the same ground of the people who built those strange things! It makes you feel part of the history, too.
Seton, you seem to be a fan of foreign environment, or am I wrong?
