I could well do with a little bit less of his patriotism, but other than that it was a good deal more interesting and fascinating than his last few books (especially tiger and dragon and red rabbit).

the book continues the known story arcs from the earlier novels and finally puts all three strands back together... Jack Ryan Sr, Jack Ryan Jr and the Campus and the both super-spys last seen as "rainbow" SWAT-Team commanders. And it continues a sad tradition that has overrun many continuing thriller series: it negates it's own roots to favor a story more closely leaned on real live history.
When Robinson did this i still had Clancy to fall back to and say: no there's an author who dares to just write his story without doing the kotau before the conservatives and setting politics above good writing and continuity of a series. But i guess that's history now too :D So back to the usual... and as a small comfort it's a very enjoyable novel even with these flaws.
