Lemony Snickets writing style makes these books more than just stories. They're incredibly simply, fast reads that won't make you think terribly too much, but I do believe they're something everyone needs to have read. It doesn't matter what age.
In this book [the second] the Baudelair orphans go to live with their "Uncle Monty" who is planning an exciting trip to Peru. They have just escaped a trap that involved Violet marrying Count Olaf and believe that now they are [more or less] safe. This is not the case. True to his word, Snicket provides horrible situation after horrible situation for these orphans. However I think theres something that intrigues everybody about the "unhappy ending" storyline. It is definatly quite addicting.
