really liked it
bookshelves: graphicnovels, middlegradefiction

From the first few pages of this charmingly illustarted graphic novel, I knew there must be a story behind the story. Turns out there several! The sub-plots are quiet, but artfully written and allowed to progress nautrally over the course of the novel. The visual story telling is tight with good pacing. The protagonist's pain and distress are palpable -perhaps moreso because the focus of the novel is teeth, a subject fraught with dramas and victories that many people can relate to. Also, I appreciated the tasteful inclusion of such a diverse cast of characters -race, sex, color, and size. My conclusion is: bravo, Raina! I'm looking forward to more.
