This sequel to "Beautiful Creatures" continues the Ethan and Lena's story. There is more southern gothic craziness, more creepiness, more dark family secrets, and, of course, more angst ridden romance.

Since the death of Lena's Uncle Macon, she has pulled away from Ethan for reasons he can't understand. He is distracted by his summer job with Marion at the county library, secretly the Luni Libri, and by Marion's summer intern, Liv, who is beautiful, blonde, and available.

Lena still has a choice to make that will cause the deaths of one half of her family, dark or light, and Saraphine and her dark casters are pulling the moon ot of time to make the choice come sooner.

As the story progresses, the characters learn more about the past and about their own roles in the future. The characters all have difficult choices to make that will change their lives in dramatic ways. These choices hint that even though Lena and her family seem bound by fate, they can ultimately have some agency.
