Second read through was actually a listen to the audiobook narrated by Divina Porter. I enjoyed it a great deal. It's still may favorite of the three and my issues are still the same. Jamie is not always likeable in this one, but definitely more human. :) Claire is a bit too forgiving, though. Sometimes I want to smack her.

Divina Porter's rendition of John Grey is a bit pompous. It's kind of funny. Rating stays at 4.
*****************************
This is the best of the first three I've read in this series, to my mind. Still quite long, most of the length seemed more purposeful to the story and less contrived prose to me, particularly once Claire made her way back. I must admit, however, that I might just be getting used to DG's verbose writing style. There were some unexpected surprises in the long story arcs, and Jamie wasn't as perfect as he's seemed previously, that made the story more real and interesting for me. This one was worth the length, I think.

Sally And now that you've finished Voyager, you can get stuck into the Lord John books. <3 Lord John.

Suz Not done yet. I read it some time ago but I'm still listening to this. Currently on disc 24 of 36, so maybe tomorrow I'll finish it. :)

Sally Good grief. The sheer number of discs shows the length of it.

At least you can look forward to succinct Lord John books soon.

Suz True. I'm kind of flagging a bit. I stalled trying to read A Fiery Cross and it's got nearly 1500 pages. I'm wondering if I'll get through it. I may have to walk away for a while and do something else. hahaha

Sally Bear in mind that it's is definitely the low point but I think you'd like the Lord John stories for a change of pace in any case. I also strongly suspect you'll be one of the very few women with me who feels that he's a very appealin gman, even with being homosexual.

Sally I'd probably have married him in the day - or in this day too, truth be told.

Marielle Authier I had trouble reading Fiery Cross too. If I hadn't been encourage to continue reading the series, I might have stop. Luckily I did continue, the other books are much better than Fiery Cross, though I have to say would have benefited from being a little bit shorter.
