Read from February 28 to March 27, 2011

Had any of the characters been even half as cool as this guy:

Teen Wolf

...I may have keep reading.

Or to be more accurate I should say: I may have read it correctly.
Which I didn’t. Instead, I did this:

*notices all the 5star reviews of Bitten*

*clicks ‘confirm order’ button on BookDespository.com*

*waits by mail box for about 40,000 years*

*receives Bitten*

*does happy dance like a happy thing in a happy place with a happy hat*

*begins reading page one of Bitten*

18 minutes later:

“ZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....” etc.

Following day

*continues reading Bitten*

*fixes toothpicks to eyelids in order to avoid boredom-induced coma*

Some time later.

*has been reading this motha-effing story since the beginning of time. Assumes is on page 82,476*

*looks at page number*

“Page 183! WTF!??”

*flips to final chapter. Absorbs general gist of things.*

*curses all Goodreaders*

Rachel (The Rest Is Still Unwritten) I've actually got this book sitting on my shelf. It's been there for about 6 months or more and every now and then I pick it up, read about 3 pages, grimace and put it back.
I share your feelings sister!

Elle Amen Rachel.

message 3: by Flannery (new) - rated it 2 stars

Flannery I had this at 2 stars for a bit and I upped it to three because I felt like I was the only GRer that just didn't like it. WHY DO PEOPLE LOVE THIS? I'm super happy you wrote this review.

message 4: by Elle (new) - rated it 2 stars

Elle It's a big fat mystery to me, Flan. Perhaps everyone else's copies came with a side order of crack?

Don't give in to the Goodreads peer pressure vaccuum!

Kat Kennedy I agree, Flannery, you shouldn't up your stars out of peer pressure and what I assume is awe at the sheer magnitude of my awesomeness.

What I loved about this book was the incredibly visceral, complicated and passionate relationship between Clay and Elena. The issues of self-acceptance and forgiveness, the characters, etc.

I just really enjoyed this book. Also, Clay as a character was great.

message 6: by Flannery (new) - rated it 2 stars

Flannery You're right, Kat--it was totally about your awesomeness:) But again, I am baffled. I usually agree with you more or less, so WHY THE HELL DIDN'T I LIKE THIS BOOK? I feel like I should read it again...or at least the first 40 pages to see if I still feel the same way.

message 7: by AH (new) - rated it 5 stars

AH I loved this book, but I didn't start the series with it. I was oblivious that it was a series at the time. A few of us hung out at the pool with our kids and we each took out one of these books from the library. We kind of read them together but out of order. I started with Stolen, someone else started with Broken. We loved Clay and Elena and kept reading. An added bonus for us was all the little Canadianisms she has in the books.

I may not have had the same experience had I started with Bitten because Elena is quite bitter in this book.

message 8: by Elle (new) - rated it 2 stars

Elle I dunno AH. I just couldn't get into it. Maybe because it was soooo slooooow and i wanted to re-write it myself with perhaps a few ninjas or something just to get things happening. Ya know?

message 9: by AH (new) - rated it 5 stars

AH I think the ninjas come in the later books, LOL.

message 10: by Elle (new) - rated it 2 stars

Elle Sweeeet.

message 11: by Dina (new)

Dina Thank you so much for this review. This book was one of the first series book I ever bought and it almost turned me off of books altogether. Okay that's a bit extreme..but I never finished it. I just had to see why people were giving it such high ratings when I came across your review. Once again Thanks for your review I loved it.

message 12: by Michelle (new) - added it

Michelle hahaha!!! I feel like i'm not making any progress on the book either!!! your description is hilarious!! I LOVE IT!

message 13: by Tina (new) - rated it 2 stars

Tina "“ZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....” etc. "

rofl, exactly!

message 14: by Pamela (new) - rated it 1 star

Pamela I'm just now reading this book. It is slow going. The whole tone is kind of dark and depressing. I find Elena pretty intolerable. Clay should totally move on.

Alkyoni ~ Kingfisher of books Ahahaha, I enjoyed the book but I also enjoyed your review! Awesome! I think I'll check the rest of them.

message 16: by Temple (new) - rated it 4 stars

Temple so sorry you hated it. but your review is feckin sweet! thanks for the laugh.

message 17: by Pat (new) - added it

Pat Patterson Libbie: Nalini Singh is like that for me. I'm desperate for ever new Archangel book but her more popular Psy Whatevers are the dullest things I've ever come across

message 18: by Kara (new) - rated it 3 stars

Kara Start with Broken, Haunted, or No Humans Involved, then work your way back to Bitten. I has been a fan of the series for five years now, and I am just now reading Bitten. Of all the Otherworld characters, I like Elena the least. The rest of the series is very good. Trust me. Start with the above mentioned books. :)

message 19: by Kara (new) - rated it 3 stars

Kara I have*** been a fan. Holy I just sounded ignorant. F autocorrect!

message 20: by Jessica (new) - rated it 2 stars

Jessica Had to comment because I am on page 54 and bored out of my freakin mind!

message 21: by Laura (last edited 07 jan. 10:13) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Laura Your icon doesn't work anymore.

message 22: by Ashley (new) - rated it 3 stars

Ashley Kreutzer I find myself re-reading pages because I am skimming. I can't help it. I'm just not engaged by the story. Too much blah blah blah about werewolf history, not enough actual events...it's only mildly interesting. The strongest thing the book has going is that, as a reader, you want to see where her love life ends up. I've read much better...for sure.

message 23: by Loons (new) - rated it 1 star

Loons I felt the exact same way reading this book. Snoooooooooooooze.

message 24: by Senaya (new) - rated it 2 stars

Senaya Morgan Yup, this review sums it up.
I was very disappointed by this book and I couldn't believe that so many people gave it 5 stars.

message 25: by Laura (new) - rated it 4 stars

Laura Okay, obviously I liked it, but your review is hilarious.

message 26: by Julia (new) - rated it 2 stars

Julia Sampaio Couldnt agree more!the action scenes are absolutely boring and so is elena.Something that really bothered me in this book is that there are so few lines its ridiculous. Not much is spoken, most of it is a boring(once again) naration. And im actually surprised i didnt like it because im not thaaat hard to please. :(

Blood Rose Books lol, I may not agree with your review, but I love how it was written. Made me laugh.
