Bitten (Women of the Otherworld, #1)
by Kelley Armstrong (Goodreads Author)
Had any of the characters been even half as cool as this guy:

...I may have keep reading.
Or to be more accurate I should say: I may have read it correctly.
Which I didn’t. Instead, I did this:
*notices all the 5star reviews of Bitten*
*clicks ‘confirm order’ button on BookDespository.com*
*waits by mail box for about 40,000 years*
*receives Bitten*
*does happy dance like a happy thing in a happy place with a happy hat*
*begins reading page one of Bitten*
18 minutes later:
“ZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....” etc.
Following day
*continues reading Bitten*
*fixes toothpicks to eyelids in order to avoid boredom-induced coma*
Some time later.
*has been reading this motha-effing story since the beginning of time. Assumes is on page 82,476*
*looks at page number*
“Page 183! WTF!??”
*flips to final chapter. Absorbs general gist of things.*
*curses all Goodreaders*

I had this at 2 stars for a bit and I upped it to three because I felt like I was the only GRer that just didn't like it. WHY DO PEOPLE LOVE THIS? I'm super happy you wrote this review.
It's a big fat mystery to me, Flan. Perhaps everyone else's copies came with a side order of crack?Don't give in to the Goodreads peer pressure vaccuum!
I agree, Flannery, you shouldn't up your stars out of peer pressure and what I assume is awe at the sheer magnitude of my awesomeness. What I loved about this book was the incredibly visceral, complicated and passionate relationship between Clay and Elena. The issues of self-acceptance and forgiveness, the characters, etc.
I just really enjoyed this book. Also, Clay as a character was great.
You're right, Kat--it was totally about your awesomeness:) But again, I am baffled. I usually agree with you more or less, so WHY THE HELL DIDN'T I LIKE THIS BOOK? I feel like I should read it again...or at least the first 40 pages to see if I still feel the same way.
I loved this book, but I didn't start the series with it. I was oblivious that it was a series at the time. A few of us hung out at the pool with our kids and we each took out one of these books from the library. We kind of read them together but out of order. I started with Stolen, someone else started with Broken. We loved Clay and Elena and kept reading. An added bonus for us was all the little Canadianisms she has in the books. I may not have had the same experience had I started with Bitten because Elena is quite bitter in this book.
I dunno AH. I just couldn't get into it. Maybe because it was soooo slooooow and i wanted to re-write it myself with perhaps a few ninjas or something just to get things happening. Ya know?
Thank you so much for this review. This book was one of the first series book I ever bought and it almost turned me off of books altogether. Okay that's a bit extreme..but I never finished it. I just had to see why people were giving it such high ratings when I came across your review. Once again Thanks for your review I loved it.
hahaha!!! I feel like i'm not making any progress on the book either!!! your description is hilarious!! I LOVE IT!
I'm just now reading this book. It is slow going. The whole tone is kind of dark and depressing. I find Elena pretty intolerable. Clay should totally move on.
Ahahaha, I enjoyed the book but I also enjoyed your review! Awesome! I think I'll check the rest of them.
Libbie: Nalini Singh is like that for me. I'm desperate for ever new Archangel book but her more popular Psy Whatevers are the dullest things I've ever come across
Start with Broken, Haunted, or No Humans Involved, then work your way back to Bitten. I has been a fan of the series for five years now, and I am just now reading Bitten. Of all the Otherworld characters, I like Elena the least. The rest of the series is very good. Trust me. Start with the above mentioned books. :)
I find myself re-reading pages because I am skimming. I can't help it. I'm just not engaged by the story. Too much blah blah blah about werewolf history, not enough actual events...it's only mildly interesting. The strongest thing the book has going is that, as a reader, you want to see where her love life ends up. I've read much better...for sure.
Yup, this review sums it up.I was very disappointed by this book and I couldn't believe that so many people gave it 5 stars.
Couldnt agree more!the action scenes are absolutely boring and so is elena.Something that really bothered me in this book is that there are so few lines its ridiculous. Not much is spoken, most of it is a boring(once again) naration. And im actually surprised i didnt like it because im not thaaat hard to please. :(

I share your feelings sister!
