** spoiler alert ** This book is just so intriguing. I was never really that interested in the Black Panthers, in fact being white I was actually quite intimidated. And when I would hear the group's name mentioned in conversation or on a tv show it's connotation was a bit off putting for me. Not in the sense that I wasn't a supporter of equal rights, but in the sense that black men with guns was a frightening thought. After reading this book I was not only enlightened of the difficult plight of black men in America, but of all men who are oppressed and made to feel less worthy by a contemptuous ruling class. What a man he taught himself to read much later in life, taught himself law, and taught himself how to fight, and he fought back when one else would. We need more men like Huey P. Newton in this time and for all time to come RIP my friend. I highly recommend this one __
