After the Girl with a Dragon Tattoo, there's a rash of Scandinavian authors. This is another thriller with a murder to solve, although no brilliant characters like Lisbeth in this one. Patric, the main investigator is a likable character, but he's about the only one. The rest is made up of dysfunctional families with someone abusing someone else - no normal family unit in the whole book. It was somewhat obvious who'd done the murder, but I still read on, just to check. Like Stig Larsson's Millenium Trilogy, there's an array of characters (all with similar sounding names) and it was somewhat difficult to keep track of them all. However, all threads are tied up, if not a little rushed at the end. Apart from the different plot lines, it was an easy read - the prose is simple which is a plus.
I hesitated between a three and four star.
