This is number four in the Monkeewrench series. It continues the high standards of the first three.
Our two favorite Minneapolis PD detectives, Leo and Gino and at a Winter Carnival when the bodies of two policemen are discovered, disguised as snowmen.
Meanwhile, upstate, another body has been found--a present for the new lady sheriff on her first day on the job.
Are the murders linked? As Leo and Gino visit the two crime scenes, Grace MacBride and the Monkeewrench computer gurus are searching for evidence. They have a single bit of conversation found in a chat room--and are trying to trace it to its source.
The trail leads to an unusual "corporation" called Bitterroot. The info they find is distur bing and the scenes at Bitterroot are well done.
The Ending is ambiguous, which I liked. Unfortunately, in real life, all does not end happily ever after--but there is a hint of hope, as well.
Well written, good characters and dalogue. I strongly recommend reading the Monkeewrench series in order, as it will make more sense that way.
An excellent series which in four books has not yet disappointed me. Highly recommended for any mystery fan.
