it was amazing

Still in my YA phase. Ellen Hopkins writes in verse, which basically means her books are collections of poems. I am not a poetry person, for the most part, but it only took me a few pages to get really swept up in this book. The poetry thing is sort of gimmicky, I guess, but it works; it's really just a regular book, sometimes with more poetic language, divided into really short chapters. It breezes by quickly. The subject matter, though, is really dark- it's about three teenagers who are in a psychiatric hospital after attempting suicide. I feel weird saying I loved it, but I did. It's heartbreaking and compelling and I'd recommend it to pretty much anyone. I'm looking forward to reading her other books.
