I will admit it now: a third of my bookshelf pays homage to Terry Pratchett and his brilliant fantasy world that is Discworld.

My latest literary acquisition to continue this homage is "Monstrous Regiment". I've always loved the wit and humour that Pratchett brings to his Discworld novels as he satirizes popular and contemporary topics in our world; and "Monstrous Regiment" is no different. What I like most about "Monstrous Regiment" is that Pratchett cleverly manages to make me laugh as he pokes fun at the ludicracy of warfare yet prompts me to seriously ponder on the important questions about war in the same book. And like previous Discworld novels, Pratchett's humorous one-liners and famous footnotes in "Monstrous Regiment" are gems.

So if you're looking for a good laugh, a compelling storyline and simply love satire, you should definitely give this book a try!
