** spoiler alert ** Another on-the-road Anna Pidgeon novel. Anna has been dispatched to Carlsbad Caverns to help rescue a friend who is surveying Lechugilla, one of the largest caves in the world. Her friend lives long enough to tell her that her accident wasn't one and Anna works to discover who did it. Come to find out that big business is once again the culprit. A company drilling for natural gas drilled through part of the cavern and not only didn't report it, but damaged the cavern as well. Her friend had discovered this and the money to be illegally derived from this misadventure was enough to cause the park ranger involved to try to kill her. Anna once again takes a beating.

This was an interesting book, but I felt a creeping claustrophobia because of the descriptions of the close quarters in the cave. Fascinating information about this cave only a tenth of which has been explored.
