Having read most of Ian McEwan's later books already, this bunch of short stories took be aback. These stories present a very disturbing view on sex and relationships. While I wouldn't want to take back with me the perspective, its Ian McEwan's writing that I read it for. I'm glad he wrote this in his thirties. He's clearly risen both as a person and as a writer by the time his most recent works were published. He was and still remains my absolutely favourite author.
