I enjoyed this book and thought it was a lot better than Fallen. This book seemed to be better written in parts - it is clear that Kate enjoys writing about the aesthetics of angels and nephilim as well as describing action. I though that this book was on the same level throughout - there weren't really any parts which made me excited to see what happened next, but overall, it was quite eventful. Shelby and Miles, as well as the teaching couple Francesca and Steven were newly introduced likeable characters with a good sense of personality. I was certainly more curious about the characters in this book. I still find the protagonist to be quite weak though and too swayed by Daniel - who to me, doesn't seem likeable at all, especially in this book. I think that Luce is actually what lets this book down most as she doesn't seem independent, 'beautiful', there doesn't seem to be a reason she'd be chosen and she seems somewhat weak-willed. However, I am enjoying the story and it makes for a good read - the plot in this book is much more impressive than the first. I look forward to reading 'Passion'.
