it was amazing
bookshelves: all-time-favorites, own
Recommended for: those battling health problems, memoir lovers
Read in January, 2001

while i've haven't had cancer, i've been battling extensive & serious physical health problems for about 15 years now and i know so well the terror jerri felt when she discovered that lump in her breast! (i've also found lumps in mine, but they turned out to be cysts ~ my initial reaction was also terror on both occassions!) i'm fascinated with the south pole research station and have always wondered what it would be like to be there for any lenght of time! i've re-read this on a few occassions - her way of telling her story really puts you there (just without the frigid cold!) on the weather channels show "how weather changed history" i was happy to hear she's since remarried but deeply saddened to hear the other night that the cancer returned in 2005 in her bones and she under went cancer treatments again, hopefully putting the cancer into remission. i wish her all the best!
