Mark Bowden is a master of minutia in the best possible way. He is able to give the simplest of incidents dramatic weight with ease while tying them all in to the bigger picture of the tale. The depth of the hostage crisis is delivered in such detail that you would think Bowden interviewed the hostages and their captors the day after the release. Bowden does on occasion put in his own two cents on the events and people involved and ends up coming across surprisingly judgemental for his usual journalistic approach. Those moments were the only detractors for me in an otherwise fantastic telling of the events as they happened.
